Is a fertility group for patients undergoing ovulation induction or intrauterine insemination for you?

This coaching group is for you if you are considering or have decided to undergo ovulation induction and/or intrauterine insemination (IUI) to achieve a pregnancy.

Whatever your particular situation.

There are many reasons why couples choose ovulation induction and/or intrauterine insemination. Maybe you are experiencing unexplained infertility, mild endometriosis, male factor infertility (e.g. low sperm count or sperm motility), or cervical factor infertility (e.g. poor or absent cervical mucus). Maybe you have ovulatory problems that have not responded to simple medications or irregular menstrual cycles.

Whatever your particular situation is that led you to a consideration or use of ovulation induction or intrauterine insemination, you will find a tremendous benefit within this coaching group.

Regardless of where you are in the process.

Maybe you have just been diagnosed with infertility. Or maybe you have undergone the necessary pre-testing and are now in the treatment phase and your doctor has recommended cycles of medications with intrauterine insemination. Or maybe you’re taking oral medications or you’ve been prescribed injectables.

Regardless of where you are in the process, this group is an opportunity to connect with other couples who have chosen the same path and who may be at the same point as you and at different stages.

What you can expect in an infertility group for patients undergoing ovulation induction or intrauterine insemination.

This group provides an incredible opportunity to receive support – support in many different forms.

Support through emotional and relational issues.

This may be an exciting time for you. You’re taking action to achieve pregnancy; you’re moving forward. You get excited every month because maybe this is the month that finally worked.

Couples in this stage typically go through an emotional roller coaster – the highs of believing that your insemination worked and that you are pregnant, and the lows when you find out that you did not achieve a pregnancy.

You will experience many different emotions. You’ll experience excitement. And you’ll experience a sense of loss because treatments were unsuccessful. You may also experience fear because of the many unknowns that lie ahead. You may be experiencing all of these emotions at once.

This is an emotionally charged time for you. The fertility nurse will help you cope with the emotions you are facing and the strain it may be putting on your relationships, particularly the relationship with your partner.

This is a perfect time to be in community with other couples who are experiencing the same thing as you – others who understand your emotional highs and lows.

A strong, powerful and supportive community.

Another valuable form of support you will receive is support from others in the group. Your fellow group participants are moving through the same experiences as you. They may be at the same point or at a different point in the process. You will benefit from their support, encouragement, wisdom, challenges, ideas and responses.

Participants at different points along the journey can offer insight, dispel fears and lend guidance. They will provide you a valuable view based on the process, decisions and outcomes they’re facing.

There is much to gain from others in the same situation as you:
- Feedback as to what worked well and what didn’t work so well and what could be done differently.
- Insight from what other physicians may have recommended to other participants.
- Guidance from the questions others have asked their physicians and from the ways they have engaged their health care providers.
- Direction from the measures others have taken to ensure they were comfortable with their treatment plan.
- Counsel from participants who have successfully ensured that their relationships (with spouse and/or others) haven’t broken down.
- Advice from others regarding what areas in their relationships were more apt to break down and why.

The value of community at this time in your life cannot be overstated. We are not meant to engage these times in our life alone.

A knowledgeable and caring coach familiar with every facet of the process.

This group will provide you a great deal of opportunity to interact with a fertility nurse. You will be coached by a seasoned fertility nurse who has worked with hundreds of patients in the same situation. She is thoroughly familiar with all the tests and procedures that you will be undergoing. In fact, she has administered many of the same treatments you will undertake.

She has over 10 years of wide-ranging experience in the field of infertility and extensive experience in ovulation induction and intrauterine insemination. This means that she is thoroughly knowledgeable of:
- All the medical terminology.
- All the testing and procedures that you’ll face.
- All the options and implications that lie ahead.
- All the decisions that you’ll have to make.
She will coach with your best interests in mind. She will ask questions. She will listen well. She will share a wealth of professional knowledge. Your fertility nurse will:
- Help you maximize the time you have with your physician.

Focused, relevant, timely support. Sound, compassionate, valuable advice.

You will have many opportunities to ask questions relating to the medical procedures that you and your spouse will encounter. The fertility nurse can answer your questions and coach you through important considerations, options and implications.

It may be that during this time you’ll also consider taking the next big step, possibly moving on to ART. This could be a difficult decision to make and at times couples are not always on the same page. The fertility nurse will ask questions to encourage you to discover and consider the desire of your heart. In this way, whatever decision you and your partner make, you’ll have confidence, peace, and hope for the future.

In this group setting, you will have the opportunity to:
- Ask questions regarding treatments, procedures and medications; get answers and perspective.
- Discuss your experience and explore the impact it is having.
- Engage other similarly-situated couples on an intimate level.
- Be educated on what’s ahead in your fertility treatment process, and receive insight and direction on your path forward.
- Learn what to ask your healthcare providers and receive feedback on how to make the most of your time with your physician.
- Get input on questions to consider as you go through this process.
