Is a fertility group for patients using donor egg for you?

This coaching group is for you if you have been told by your physician to consider the use of donor eggs or if you have moved forward with a donor egg treatment plan to achieve pregnancy.

Whatever your particular situation.

Maybe you have completed a few ART procedures with your own eggs and have been unsuccessful, and your physician has said that egg quality is poor. Or maybe your follicle stimulating hormone (FSH) level is elevated, indicating you are perimenopausal. Whatever your particular situation has been that has led you to a consideration or use of donor egg, you will find a tremendous benefit within this coaching group.

Regardless of where you are in the process.

You may have just been told you need donor eggs and you are unsure of the whole process – What happens next? How are donor eggs located? What control do I have in the process? What are the options? What does the procedure look like? How does it feel?

Or you may have already begun the process of looking for a donor or are in the process of being matched with an egg donor.

Or maybe you’re already on medications and your donor is on medications and your procedure will be sometime in the next few weeks.

Wherever you’re at in the process, this is a coaching group that offers coaching and support to couples or individuals like you who will be using donor eggs to achieve pregnancy.

What you can expect in an infertility group for patients using donor egg.

This group provides an incredible opportunity to receive support – support in many different forms.

A knowledgeable and caring coach familiar with every facet of the donor egg process.

This group will provide you a great deal of opportunity to interact with a fertility nurse coach. You will be coached by a seasoned fertility nurse who has worked with thousands of patients. She is thoroughly familiar with all the tests and procedures that you will be undergoing. She has over 10 years of wide-ranging experience in the field of infertility and extensive experience in donor egg procedures.

Not only is she knowledgeable about how a typical cycle with donor eggs runs, but she also has experience with running a donor egg program. She has counseled couples who use donor eggs and has also counseled women who are egg donors. She has experience in matching donors with recipients and has educated both the donor and the recipient regarding the cycle they will be undergoing, the associated risks, the potential side effects, and the whole step by step process.

This means that she is thoroughly knowledgeable of:
- All the medical terminology.
- All the testing and procedures that you’ll face.
- All the options and implications that lie ahead.
- All the decisions that you’ll have to make.
She will coach with your best interests in mind. She will ask questions. She will listen well. She will share a wealth of professional knowledge. Your fertility nurse will:
- Coach you through finding a donor egg program if your center doesn’t have their own.
- Help you maximize the time you have with your physician.
- Help you work through the roller coaster of emotions that typically accompany this process.
- Explore with you the options and their implications and guide you through the difficult choices that lie ahead.

A coach to guide you through the many emotions ahead.

You may be experiencing different emotions regarding the decision to proceed with donor egg. You may be excited because you’re taking the next step and there’s a high percentage of success. You may be experiencing a sense of loss because you were not able to get pregnant with your own eggs. You may have much fear because of the many unknowns that lie ahead. You may be experiencing all of these emotions at once.

This is an emotionally charged time for you. The fertility nurse will help you cope with the emotions you are facing and the strain it may be putting on your relationships, particularly the relationship with your significant other.

Guidance through difficult issues and dilemmas.

There will be many tough decisions and interesting dilemmas as you move through this process. For example, you’ll have the opportunity to consider whether you’re going to disclose to your child that they were conceived using donor egg – that they are not genetically linked to their mother. How will you approach this sensitive issue with your child? You can receive input from the fertility nurse as well as your fellow participants who are facing the same dilemma.

There will be opportunity to talk about your feelings toward this issue and many others. What are the pros and cons? How are others processing these issues and issues like this?

The final decisions you make will be yours. And you will move forward with confidence from these decisions knowing that have had the opportunity to speak with others about these sensitive issues and to hear many options and alternatives – an opportunity that few people have.

This is an opportunity that few people have.

A strong, powerful and supportive community.

Another valuable form of support you will receive is support from others in the group. Your fellow group participants are moving through the same experiences as you. They may be at the same point or at a different point in the process. You will benefit from their support, encouragement, wisdom, challenges, ideas and responses.

Participants at different points along the journey can offer insight, dispel fears and lend guidance. They will provide you a valuable view based on the process, decisions and outcomes they’re facing.

There is much to gain from others in the same situation as you:
- Feedback as to what worked well and what didn’t work so well and what could be done differently.
- Insight from what other physicians may have recommended to other participants.
- Guidance from the questions others have asked their physicians and from the ways they have engaged their health care providers.
- Direction from the measures others have taken to ensure they were comfortable with their treatment plan.
- Counsel from participants who have successfully ensured that their relationships (with spouse and/or others) haven’t broken down.
- Advice from others regarding what areas in their relationships were more apt to break down and why.

The value of community at this time in your life cannot be overstated. We are not meant to engage these times in our life alone.
