What is coaching?
Coaching takes place within a trusting, confidential, and supporting relationship between you and the fertility nurse. Coaching provides you with insights into your infertility treatment process and guidance in the decisions that will come along the journey. Coaching is not about giving you the answers; it is about engaging you in such a way, by listening, asking questions and sharing professional knowledge, that you arrive at the decisions that already lie within you. Coaching is about listening without judgment, questioning for clarification and challenging for results.

How is coaching different from counseling?
A counselor typically engages their clients in a way that addresses their past to determine where patterns of behavior and problems started. Counseling is focused on healing wounds from the past which leads to present quality of life. On the other hand, although coaching acknowledges that there are patterns and problems present, it is focused on the present. Coaching addresses the present moment. It is concerned with living in the present and working toward the future. Coaching is about what’s going on in your life now, your infertility journey, and how you’re going to navigate the journey and work toward a hopeful and exciting future.

What can I expect from a coaching group??
In a coaching group, you will meet via teleconference with the fertility coach and nine other similarly situated fertility patients. For example, if you are undergoing treatment that includes an ART procedure such as IVF, you can select a coaching group with other patients who are going through the same treatment process. On each teleconference there will be time for participants to share what is happening in their treatment process and to receive input and feedback from the fertility coach as well as the other participants. This is a valuable time in which you can benefit from the successes and challenges of your fellow participants as well as from the professional expertise of the fertility nurse.
A coaching group teleconference will typically last 1.5 hours and will meet every other week for a 16 week period. You can either register as one participant or as a couple. Learn more.
